What is a Notary Public?

A Notary Public is person of proven character who acts as an impartial witness to a transaction, appointed by the state. Notaries are the first line of defense against fraud. Notaries have been around since Ancient Rome. In the United States, each state has different laws regarding the role of a notary and the qualifications to become a notary. The role of notaries are ever changing. In fact, a notary loan signing agent is a relatively new specialized notary.

Q. Do you guarantee we will pass the California Notary State Exam?
A. Yes. Both our online and live notary classes are designed to teach you both practical notary and how to pass the state exam on your first taking. Approximately 90% of our students pass the state exam the first time they take it, with no prior notary knowledge. If you do happen to fail the state exam the first time you take it, you may attend the seminar again FREE of charge. You will pass the state notary exam.

Q. Is the California Notary State Exam difficult?
A. Yes and No. It is a 30 question test and you will have 50 minutes to finish. You probably will not need that much time, however. The test questions are tricky and you must read them carefully and understand them in order to answer correctly. We will teach you to know the material, not just memorize it.

Q. Is the State Exam administered on the same day as the seminar?
A. Yes. All of our LIVE seminars have the State Exam immediately following. The fee for the exam is an additional $40. If you take our online or DVD course, you can attend the State Exam at one of our live seminar locations.

Q. When will I know if I passed the State Exam or not?
A. CPS (Cooperative Personnel Services) will mail out your test results within 8-10 busines days. You may also check your scores online, however, you must wait for your test results in the mail until you proceed with your commissioning process. How to Become a Notary

Q. I ordered a stamp and/or embosser from Golden State Notary, how do I get them?
A. In order for us to ship your stamp and/or embosser, we must first receive your original Certificate of Authorization to Manufacture Notary Public Seals. This lets us know that you are authorized by the State of California to have a notary seal. Please allow 10 business days from our receipt of your Certificate for this order to be delivered. Q. I received my commission paperwork in the mail and it says I need a bond, how do I get one and how much does one cost?

Q. I am a renewing notary, is there a different procedure for me to renew my notary commission?
A. The only difference between new notaries and renewing notaries, is if your commission expires on or after July 1, 2009, then you only have to take a 3 hour course, versus a 6 hour course.
